Color Crush: Emerald

Emerald was named Pantone's Color of the Year for 2013, and it is also my birthstone! This radiant color has significant meaning behind it. It is said to bring growth, renewal, prosperity, well-being, and harmony. Saturate your space in emerald, or create a more subtle look with emerald accent pieces.

The Magic of Candlelight

Its that time of year again, where all you want to do is curl up on the couch with tea or hot cocoa, a good book and a blanket. There is just something about the flicker of candlelight that makes everything more relaxing.

Creating a candlescape is one of the easiest ways to add color or fragrance to the room. Fill a tray with an assortment of candles, pillars and votives in either your single favorite scent or a colorful combination of unscented candles. Add gem mixes or natural touches like seashells or sand. The result is a great addition to the dining table, console or side table.

For the Love of Chesterfield

As I mentioned briefly in my last post, I am designing a two bedroom two and a half bathroom apartment at the Ritz Residences in Boston. My client has a contemporary decor style but likes traditional accents. Over the past week, I have found my self gravitating towards the chesterfield sofa. I love the elegance and comfort this sofa provides.

By upholstering the chesterfield in a bold pattern or soft velvet and adding the right accents,  you take a once traditional sofa and turn it contemporary. There are so many different ways to style a chesterfield!

Coming back from a long hiatus

Hey guys, I am so sorry that I dropped off the face the earth. Since my last post at the end of August I have been so busy. I moved into my new apartment September 1st which was so hectic and stressful. Dimitriy and I have come to the conclusion that the next time we move, that we are absolutely, 100% hiring a moving service. There was a lot of unnecessary drama that could have been avoided.

Besides moving, I recently started a new job at the Real Estate company Dimitriy works at, as their interior designer. I am designing a 2 bedroom 2 and a half bath apartment in the Ritz.

Again I apologize for leaving everyone hanging, but I promise to get back to posting every day!
