How to Style and Stock A Bar Cart

The thought of styling and stocking a bar cart seems pretty daunting, so I put together a condensed list of steps to help get you started in designing that perfect bar cart!

Step One, Find Inspiration

Step Two, Find Your Cart

In addition to the bar carts I listed above, you can also find fabulous ones on Etsy and Craigslist!

 Step Three, Get Organized

Use trays to help divide the bar cart into zones and dedicate each zone to a specific essential. I love these trays from West Elm!

Step Four, Look For Pretty Packaging

Color, pattern and texture all come into play when styling a bar cart. Details such as custom coasters and cocktail napkins add style and function.

Step Five, Gather the Essentials

Your bar should be built for your needs and the beverages you like to drink and serve. I think it is important to think about what you will be serving on a regular basis rather than going to get everything. This would be a good opportunity to make a bar menu!
Matchbook Magazine put together this great list of bar cart essentials.

Step Six, Color Coordinate

Think about color and quality when selecting spirits. Here is a collection of all blue liquor bottles which compliments a stack of books on the lower shelf.

Remember a beautifully styled bar cart does not happen overnight. It takes patience and lots and lots of visits to thrift stores and flea markets!
